An exciting mathematical and historical lecture by Professor Des MacHale, author of the George Boole Biography.
As part of the annual Spring Lectures organised by the Cork Adult Education Council, Prof. Desmond MacHale, School of Mathematical Sciences, UCC, has kindly agreed to give a special talk on George Boole, to mark this year’s bicentenary events. Prof. MacHale has written the first full-length biography of George Boole, which is now regarded as the seminal work in this area.
The Cork Adult Education Council is a wholly voluntary organisation, committed to promoting adult education in Cork since 1978. Our primary role is to organise the Cork Adult Education & Training Exhibition, which has been held in the City Hall since 1985. We also run a series of Spring Lunchtime Lectures on topics of historical and cultural interest to Cork. This is held over 4 days during the first week after Easter (this year's event was from 13th to 16th April). The lecture by Prof. MacHale on Tuesday 5th May, is an additional talk to mark the bicentenary celebrations for George Boole.
